This is the hearth sheet which goes down first. It’s thick canvas and covers a large area, large enough to fit all our equipment on.

This is the second hearth sheet. It’s thick denim and is used to protect the first sheet and to reduce soot transfer from one job to the next. The sheets leading edge will be taped down to the hearth to stop any soot from finding its way underneath.

Next comes the soot cloth. Here we have used it to cover the entrance to a stove, however we have many different sizes that we use for open fires or flues. It’s taped all around to create a seal. The rods and brush are sent up through a convenient sleeve and a vacuum is attached to collect any stray soot.

Rotary power sweeping is our preferred method. It’s incredibly thorough but less intrusive than the traditional rod and brush technique although we also carry those with us.
